Sex! Scratch Tickets

Eight scratch tickets, each hiding a position for the night, with the claim that every ticket is a winner. The scratch panel is the mechanic and it is what makes the reveal genuine rather than a shuffle.

Scratch one at a time rather than working through the pack, which turns eight tickets into eight evenings. Agree beforehand that either of you can pass on one without explanation, which keeps it light. Keep them flat, since a creased panel lifts in the wrong places and ruins the surprise. They also work as a small gift on their own rather than needing anything alongside. Use a coin rather than a nail, which gives a cleaner scratch and does not tear the panel. Eight tickets is eight evenings if you space them out rather than working through the pack.

A deck of cards can be read through in advance and the surprise is gone. A scratch panel is spent once it is used, which means every ticket is genuinely unknown until the moment it is opened.
